dahlia, blackcurrants and red kuri squash

The red kuri squash has taken off and is madly climbing up its bean pole tripod, fruiting brightly.

    Love black currents from childhood. We had them in Somerset, and also at Four Winds.

    Hi Ruthie, Love your Juliet Dahlia-gorgeously vibrant. I had some spare Dahlia roots that I’d dug up and after a few not-so-tasty experiments, found Jame’s Wong’s rosti recipes (grate roots, squeeze out liquid, mix with flour and fry). Quite bland, but a lovely texture and a perfect accompaniment for smoke salmon an sour cream.

    That sounds good! I do admire your willingness to experiment – not sure I’d be prepared to risk disappointment after all the work involved. The rosti recipe is a good one for all sorts of roots – thank you.
